About the event

Unique Event — Food Trucks — World Music — Live Auction!

This one of a kind fundraising event will prove to be one of the most memorable nights of the year.  There will be four food trucks that will provide a trip around the world’s cuisine from Liba Falafel (falafel, sweet potato fries) to Twister Mexican (vegetarian burritos, fish tacos) to Old World (eggplant sliders, pierogies), and Pacific Puffs serving up four kinds of cream puffs. There will be TUNES: Mamajowali will rock the house! Whether you’re a foodie, a music lover, a friend of the Tehiyah community, or all of the above, this event is for you!

Mamajowali features veteran multi-instrumentalist, Joe Craven (who has performed with Jerry Garcia, Yo Yo Ma, and David Grisman); award winning musician from Mali, Mamdou Sidibe; and fingerstyle guitar ace Walter Strauss. To hear these three musicians from far flung places collaborate is to take in three souls, listening and greeting one another in a universal language – seamlessly interweaving two continents and three bright musical sensibilities. The blend of kamale ngoni (the hunter’s harp) with six string guitar, percussion, fiddle, mandolin and singing – is uncommon and familiar while traditional and innovative – all at the same time. This new “Afromericana” project places each of these respected N. CA based artists in a new sound of common ground.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the Tehiyah Day School tuition assistance fund that provides essential support to families and students, and allows us to extend our community, and make Tehiyah Day School accessible to an economically diverse population. 63% of students that attend Tehiyah Day School participate in Indexed Tuition, and pay below the maximum end of the tuition range for their grade.

About Tehiyah Day School:  Tehiyah is a Jewish community day school committed to serving a diverse student body, maintaining academic excellence, and instilling in its students a love of learning, respect for individual differences, and a deep appreciation of Jewish values and culture. Tehiyah Day School received the national Blue Ribbon in 2012 from the US Department of Education, and was recognized as an “Exemplary High Performing School”. It is one of only of two private schools in California to receive the award in 2012.

Who says the grown ups get to have all the fun?!

Bring your kids to the “Kids’ Party.” Kids are invited to join for pizza and a movie sponsored by Tehiyah Aftercare Program (TAP). Tickets are available for $20 for the first child and $10 for the second for 3 hours of fun.  Space is limited and those who are interested should sign up early. Please contact Laurel Bray-Hanin (Laurel.Bray-Hanin at ucsfmedctr.org)  to sign up.

Your generous support of Tehiyah’s tuition assistance fund has a direct and profound impact on the lives of these children, their families, and the greater Jewish community.
